Brian Andrus won the top prize on the Set for Life scratch-and-win lottery ticket from the BC Lottery Corp.

Brian Andrus is feeling "blessed!" after a big win on a Set For Life ticket.

The Abbotsford father recently scratched one of the large lottery tickets and wasn't sure if what he saw was correct.

“It was my day off, and I was running errands and redeeming some tickets from the holidays,” says Andrus in a press release from the BC Lottery Corp. “I found out I won while sitting in my car and had to check the back to make sure I read the rules properly!”

To double-check, he called the BCLC to clarify he was right, and they advised him to check using a self-checker at a store.

He went to a gas station, confirmed the win, and called his wife.

"She didn’t believe me at first, so she asked me to send her a photo," says Andrus. "She was so shocked but was so happy once her shock wore off!”

As with many others, the big win means a trip to Disneyland in the near future.

“My son and daughter have been wanting to go for years, and this win will allow me to surprise them with this trip!” says the father.

It's the second Set for Life ticket that paid out the top prize recently. Vancouver's Katherine Mundy won $675,000 on a ticket that was a gift from her dad, the BCLC announced previously in January 2025.
