WestJet launches direct flight from Vancouver to Halifax for a steal

The seasonal route offers ultimate convenience for travellers wanting to fly across Canada.

A direct fight from Vancouver that often has an eye-watering price tag will have some more competition this summer.

WestJet has announced the return of its seasonal route from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ). It will provide four flights weekly on the popular route. Additionally, the airline will also fly to Halifax from Saskatoon and Regina.

The airline is also offering up to 25 per cent off on base fares for flights from Canadian cities, including those from YVR to YHZ, for travel between April 24 and Dec. 15, 2025. However, there are some blackout dates, and the sale ends on April 24.

WestJet's sale fares are easily identifiable when you open the price window because they have a little money symbol. However, you should still input the promotional code listed on the website.

For instance, a flight that departs from Vancouver to Halifax on Sept. 8 costs $222.03 with WestJet. This price is lower than you'll typically pay for direct service (see slides two and three).

Fly round-trip from Vancouver to Halifax

Travellers looking for low-priced round-trip options from YVR to YHZ should browse September's schedule.

A round-trip option including a direct flight from Vancouver on Sept. 8 and returning from Halifax on Sept. 15 costs $457.72 (see slides four and five).

However, travellers may wish to shop around for a better deal (unless they prefer flying WestJet).

Air Canada is offering a return trip with direct flights departing on Sept. 8 and returning on Sept. 15 for $450 (see slide six).

If you can't book flights now, or aren't sure of when you can travel, check each airline's current promotions to get the best option.

Flight prices may change quickly based on seat availability. If you want to secure a price, book the ticket right away (some airlines and travel suppliers allow you to hold seats, although you will need to confirm). Prices shown in this travel deal were available at the time of writing and may not be available when you look for them.
