Despite the weekend rain and cooler temps, Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are under an air quality advisory yet again Monday morning.
The renewed AQA was issued early Monday morning, and is due to "high concentration of fine particulate matter," according to Environment Canada, as smoke from wildfires both within and outside the region has moved into all parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
Though Vancouver may be kicking off the weeks under blue skies, predictions indicate we will likely be at a level 4 (moderate) for unhealthful air as Monday progresses.
We had a brief reprieve from being under an AQA Friday afternoon into Sunday, however on Sunday an advisory was issued.
We are once again issuing an #AirQuality Advisory for Metro Vancouver and the Central Fraser Valley due to high concentrations of fine particulate matter. The advisory for Eastern Fraser Valley also remains in place. https://t.co/Rc2gAF5HEf https://t.co/GvM6k3zz79 pic.twitter.com/WCXX6iv87z

Now it's up to Mother Nature to have us breathing more easily again: "Elevated levels of fine particulate matter are expected to persist until there is a change in weather or fire conditions."
Under current air conditions, people with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise, and exposure is a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, and lung or heart disease.
