Metro Vancouver RCMP investigate intentionally lit fires at apartment building

The descriptions of two suspects have been released

On Feb 8, Surrey Fire Service responded to the report of a fire at an apartment building in Guildford. Investigators believe two fires were intentionally set.

Surrey RCMP is looking to the public for information after an apartment building in the Guildford area was intentionally set ablaze.

On Feb. 8, at 3:06 a.m., Surrey Fire Service notified Surrey RCMP they were responding to the report of a fire at an apartment building located the 10600-block of 150 Street. When firefighters arrived they extinguished a fire located in a hallway but there was evidence of a second fire outside which had already been put out.

"Thankfully no injuries were reported, however it appears these fires were intentionally lit," a Surrey RCMP release states. 

Investigators are in the process of reviewing CCTV from the area and have released a description of two suspects.

One suspect was wearing a white baseball hat, white shirt, black puffy jacket, blue jeans and white high-top runners. The other suspect was wearing a dark hoody with a white shirt, black pants, black Nike runners with a white swoosh.

“Thankfully the fire was quickly extinguished and did not result in any injuries to residents inside the apartment building,” said Corporal Vanessa Munn, Surrey RCMP. “We want to encourage residents in the area to be vigilant and report all suspicious activity.”
