An ordinary stop for gas resulted in a hefty prize for a Metro Vancouver resident.
Kenneth Ramos discovered he won an astounding $500,000 after he buying a lottery ticket for the Lotto Max draw on August 8. Luckily, he said yes to the extra.
"I checked my ticket at the Esso," he recalls. "I was speechless and walked away and came back to double-check a few minutes later."
He'd gone four for four on the Extra.
Ramos' wife was also speechless at the news of his win.
The Surrey resident plans to save for his children's education, build an apartment in the Philippines, and buy a home in B.C.
But while Ramos has many plans, he notes that the "most important thing is my kids and their future."
Ramos purchased the winning ticket at the Esso station on 96 Avenue and 168 Street in Surrey.
BCLC is also reminding locals to check their old tickets; a $1 million winner bought in Metro Vancouver in 2022 is set to expire soon.
