B.C. gambling history has been rewritten.
Before the clock struck midnight on Feb. 21, someone in the province became an instant millionaire by winning $1 million playing Keno.
That's the biggest payout ever from the virtual game in B.C., according to the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC).
The winning draw number was 3253141, which took place at 11:34 p.m. that Friday night.
Numbers selected, of which the player correctly matched 10 plus a 5x bonus to win seven figures, are highlighted in the square below:
It's not known yet if the winner has come forward to claim the historic seven-figure prize. The name and community of residency may be released at a later date.
A BCLC spokesperson confirmed the new millionaire has up to one year to declare the earnings.
What is Keno?
Keno gives lottery players the chance to win $200,000 each draw by picking 10 of 80 available numbers.
A single ticket can be played for up to 99 consecutive draws, which take place every three-and-a-half minutes, BCLC explained, and 20 numbers are randomly selected.
Participants win corresponding prizes if the numbers they picked match those that are drawn. Keno Bonuses can also be added, multiplying potential winnings by 1.5x, 2x, 5x, 7x or 10x.
This means Keno players that buy the optional bonus could win as much as $2 million if 10 is picked as the multiplying digit.
The latest winner claimed $1 million by adding a Keno Bonus to their ticket and the multiplier digit was five.
