While it seems paradoxical, flights within Canada are some of the most expensive flights Canadians can take.
In fact, even extremely short flights, such as those that are only a couple of hours long, are often quite costly. As a result, many people struggle visiting friends, family, or simply returning to their hometown.
Luckily, WestJet’s discount carrier, Swoop, is offering some extremely low fares on flights to Ontario. Specifically, the carrier offers flights directly between Abbotsford, British Columbia and Hamilton, Ontario with no layovers. While they aren't between Vancouver and Toronto, they offer a price that is pretty much incomparable with regular flights between the provinces.
For example, this flight on Thursday, Jan. 17 costs an impressively low $89 CAD and that includes tax. What's more, this isn't an anomaly. In fact, if you want to travel east during the summer, when flights are notoriously high, you can book them for this same low price.
Ontario on the Cheap
Earlier this year, Swoop announced that they would offer discount service between Metro Vancouver and Mexico. Abbotsford International Airport will enjoy twice weekly service to Puerto Vallarta and twice weekly service to Mazatlán International Airport. The low-cost flights start on January 12th, 2019 January 20th, 2019, respectively.
Note: While the low-cost carrier is an extremely affordable alternative, it is worthwhile to note that there are a number of additional costs. For one, luggage will cost extra, as will selecting your own seat or even speaking to an operator. As such, it is important to factor in what you need to bring, or if you want to sit in a particular spot prior to making a purchase.
