Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on major Metro Vancouver highway

Surrey RCMP is seeking public witnesses following a pedestrian fatality Wednesday night on Highway 17.

On Feb. 26 around 6 p.m., RCMP were called to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 10200 block of Highway 17 in Surrey. According to RCMP, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was co-operating with investigators. The incident is still under investigation. Highway 17 was closed to traffic between Nordel Way and Tannery Road for several hours.
