One of the first notes on this (now deleted) Craigslist ad notes the 'microstudio' is "suitable for one person only."
That seems a fair assessment of the minuscule home, one of the - if not the - smallest rental units in Vancouver.
Located in the ground floor of a house on 33 Avenue near Sophia Street, the unit is two rooms: a kitchen/bedroom and a washroom.
And while studio apartments are common in Vancouver, they aren't often this efficient with space.
For example, in photos of the unit online washroom is extremely compact, with the shower head directly above the toilet. Just a foot or two away is the bathroom sink, which means when the shower is in use, everything gets soaked (which raises questions like 'where does the toilet paper go?).
Moving to the kitchen/bedroom/lobby/storage area, the creators of the space found a few ways to keep things small. For one, the bed appears to take up a large portion of floor space but may fold up.
The listing notes there's a fridge, convection oven and induction cooker. That's about it for appliances, or space for appliances. A computer desk in one corner and a lamp in another round out the creature comforts.
What the room does have, it appears, is a lot of cupboards and storage space. It also has high ceilings, allowing for cupboards and shelves to go quite high.
Judging by the width of the bed and the number of tiles, a rough estimate of the area in the unit would be around 225 square feet.
While it's definitely among the smallest, it's also among the cheapest units in Vancouver, at $820.
