Police seek witnesses to serious East Vancouver crash

A 40-year-old pedestrian is suffering life-threatening injuries

A 40-year-old pedestrian was struck while crossing East 1st Avenue at Woodland Drive.

Vancouver Police are looking for witnesses to a serious collision in East Vancouver earlier this week.

At 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night (March 28), a pedestrian was struck by a blue Mercedes C300 while crossing the road at East 1st Avenue at Woodland Drive suffering life-threatening injuries.

The VPD says the driver remained at the scene and authorities believe that neither speed nor alcohol were factors, howeve,r they are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Officers believe the victim, a woman in her 40s who lives nearby, was attempting to cross East 1st from the south side and was hit as she stepped off the curb as the car passed through the intersection. Eyewitnesses, or anyone with dash-cam video, that was in the vicinity is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.

The woman remains in the hospital in critical condition.
