Emergency crews were called to the 1200 block of Lynn Valley Road last night for reports that a man in his 70s had drowned at a nearby residential address.

North Vancouver RCMP were summoned to the area around 8:45 p.m. Friday evening.

“I can confirm the North Vancouver RCMP were called there for a drowning, but it’s not suspicious in nature and it’s a coroner’s investigation at this time,” said Sgt. Geoff Harder, spokesman for the detachment.

The incident occurred at a private address, said Harder, who noted how tragic the incident was.

“It’s very difficult for the family,” he said.

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed that it's currently investigating what and how the incident occurred.

Although it’s too early for the coroner to speculate on the exact cause of death until the investigation is complete, both police and the coroner have deemed the incident non-suspicious.
