After nearly 10 years at the corner of Howe and Nelson streets in downtown Vancouver, Mine & Yours is closing up the shop.
The original shop, at 1025 Howe St., will close permanently at the end of June, though its other locations in Vancouver and Toronto will stay open.
Before the doors are locked one final time, the store will be having a sale starting on June 14.
"Howe Street was our first 'real' store. Before that, Mine & Yours was a live/work townhouse," says owner Courtney Watkins in a press release, describing the original store as a "hidden gem."
She goes on to note that "the neighbourhood has changed."
"After 10 broken windows in eight years, we have made the difficult decision that it’s time to move on and focus on our newer stores and our online business," she says.
On Instagram, Mine & Yours notes safety was becoming an issue as the downtown core grew.
"Our beloved Howe Street store started to see many challenges for our business in the area," reads the post. "The decision to close Howe has come as the safety of our team and clients continues to be a growing concern."
"We’ve accepted that the Howe Street we once knew isn’t coming back," it goes on to say.
