Photos: Stunningly renovated B.C. house hits real estate market for $3.15 million

It's got ocean views, too

Raven House may be more than 30 years old, but it looks like a new build.

That's because the stunning private residence was heavily renovated recently and finished in 2021. Located on Mayne Island, one of the Gulf Islands closest to Tsawwassen, Raven House is currently on the market for $3.15 million.

The renovations include a black cedar facade, which gives the house a dramatic look as it pokes out of the forest atop a ridge on one of the island's high points.

The home also has a couple of prominent points that push out from the house at sharp angles. One of them is a deck. Another is a bedroom with stunning views of the ocean below.

The renovations were designed by Vancouver's Measured Architecture, a boutique firm located in the Mount Pleasant Industrial Area. They've caught the eyes of the architecture world before, and since, for similar projects.

Raven House attracted attention when it was finished from international publications like The Plan and Global Design News. At the same time the Globe and Mail named Raven House its home of the week for August 10, 2023.

The house itself has three bedrooms and three bathrooms spread over 2,800 square feet.

"Inside, a minimalist palette of concrete floors, an Arclinea kitchen, and a thoughtful layout create seamless, functional elegance," reads the listing.

Along with the main residence, there's also a workshop, barn and a guest house.

The house is on a 5.27-acre property. It's located at 630 Tinker Rd on Mayne Island's southern side, looking out towards North Pender Island.
