Value Village has a new space picked out for its second "boutique" location in Vancouver.
The storefront at 1062 Granville St. has been vacant for years, but it isn't anymore.
The second Vancouver Value Village Boutique is set to open Thursday, Oct. 19. Its first day will see the store open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. From Friday, Oct. 20 on it'll be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Like the Value Village Boutique that opened late last year in South Granville (2354 Granville St.), the new boutique won't accept donations.
The company's "boutique" offering has fewer categories of items than other Value Village locations because it's a smaller space. Most Value Villages require loading bays and warehouse-like square footage to accommodate all of the receiving and sorting that takes place.
The new opening brings the number of Value Villages in Vancouver to three, as the East Vancouver location on Victoria Drive remains open.
It lost its large East Vancouver store in a fire in June 2022.
The company, popular with deal hunters and thrift shoppers, has come under fire in recent years for its high prices and disconnecting from charities.
"We are a for-profit company that champions reuse. Shopping in our stores doesn’t support any nonprofit," the company notes on its site. "We pay nonprofits for your stuff, helping them fund programs in our communities."
