Here's why you might see a heart on top of a Vancouver bus stop

It's been a year since the tragic accident.

A heart with a driver's seniority number was installed at a bus stop in memory of his passing.

Last year, a Coast Mountain Bus Company operator was killed in a collision involving two transit vehicles.

Charanjit Parhar, 64, was fixing a mechanical issue on his bus on West Cordova Street when he was pinned by another bus.

Now, CMBC is permanently honouring his memory with a sign atop a bus stop near the accident site. The circular plaque has a heart with Parhar's seniority number inside and will remain at bus stop 50036 on West Cordova and Homer streets.

TransLink hasn't formally announced the new signage but a moment of silence was held on September 29, 2021, shortly after Parhar's passing.

Pahar had worked for CMBC for over 21 years at the time of his death.
