Celestial Games in Mount Pleasant has closed. The collectibles and games store had a brief run before departing Vancouver for Japan.

If you're curious about what's in CentrePoint Mall in Mount Pleasant, the answer isn't Celestial Games & Collectibles.

The shop specializing in retro video games and Japanese collectibles didn't last long; it opened in the spring and closed before the end of summer.

However, while the space at 2949 Main St is empty and ready for a new tenant, Celestial Games isn't done. The young business, and its ownership, are headed to Japan.

"We have been operating our physical store to offer retro/new video games, consoles, and Japanese collectibles in Vancouver," reads a recent post from the business. "However, we decided to move to Japan to start a wholesale business there."

In that way, they still plan to serve customers in Vancouver, and elsewhere.

"We will be able to offer not only video games/consoles but also toys, figures, collectible items, manga books, trading cards, stationary, clothing, snacks, gift items, Made in Japan goods and much more!" reads the post, with a note adding that nothing prohibited by law will be shipped to Canada.

When the new version of Celestial Games & Collectibles will open has not been announced.
