A two alarm fire displaced over 50 residents in Vancouver Saturday morning.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) received a call just after 8 a.m. on Sept. 24.
Over 40 firefighters responded to a second alarm fire at 143 Dunlevy Avenue.
"We arrived to find one room in the [building] that was fully engulfed in flames," says Brian Bertuzzi, VFRS Assistant Chief.
Bertuzzi adds that the fire had spread to adjacent suites and up one floor, taking out two units above. "It was fairly extensive damage," says Bertuzzi.
Over 50 residents have been displaced and housing authorities are working on providing accomodation, notes Bertuzzi. "Everybody was evacuated successfully," he adds.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
