Vancouver has the second most expensive hotel rates in Canada, according to a survey by cheaphotels.org.
The company compared rates at centrally-located hotels rated three stars or higher across 30 popular Canadian destinations for the month of August.
The ranking is calculated based on the average price over the course of the month for the cheapest available double room.
In Vancouver, visitors spend $324 on average for the least expensive double rooms available. Only Banff, Alberta is more expensive at $336 per night.
If you have friends or family visiting from out of town there are a variety of alternatives to consider such as Airbnb, hostels, inns, bed and breakfasts or motels.
The survey lists hotels in Richmond as being about almost $100 cheaper per night and they are closer to Vancouver International Airport, which might be a better option.
Or some may prefer to enjoy a luxurious stay in a Vancouver hotel as part of the vacation experience.
