Kathie Draeseke of Vancouver has just won big on a B.C. Lottery scratch-and-win ticket.

A Vancouver woman says a lucky Set For Life ticket will help her fix up her condo and take more trips to Mexico.

Kathie Draeseke bought several of the scratch-and-win tickets to put in birthday cards she was sending out and bought one extra for herself. It turns out the extra one was the big winner.

“I started scratching but had to step away halfway through and come back to it. I noticed there were three matching symbols in one box,” she says in a press release from the B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC).

At first, she kept it a secret that she'd won, only telling her sister, but the news is out now.

The big win amounts to $675,000. With the money, Draeseke is planning a couple of practical things, like upgrading her car and repairing her condo.

"It will help me not worry about money!" she says of the win.

It's not all necessities, though; she's planning on spending a few more winters in Mexico, a trip she regularly takes. This winter was going to be her last.

The winning ticket was bought early this year at the Point Grey Pharmacy on West 10th Avenue near Sasamat Street.
