Vancouver police are releasing footage of the suspect in a Chinatown alley blaze.
Firefighters responded to a fire in the back alley of the Chinese Cultural Centre around 5 p.m. on Sunday (March 26).
The suspected arsonist caused extensive smoke and water damage to the building. No injuries were reported but the incident has been upsetting to the community.
Once it was determined that the fire was deliberately set, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) detectives launched a criminal investigation. During the investigation, the VPD uncovered video footage that appears to show a woman allegedly setting the fire.
“We are asking anyone who recognizes this woman to call our investigators,” adds Constable Visintin.
Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
