Metro Vancouver's original SkyTrain cars will be retiring soon.

And like many headed to retirement, it's unclear what they'll be doing in the future.

TransLink is asking the world for "innovative ideas and proposals" for the Mark I SkyTrain cars, which were launched when the SkyTrain opened during Expo 86.

"Relocation of the original fleet presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the region's transit history," states TransLink in a press release.

There are 150 cars being retired as the system expands and gains new Mark V cars.

Proposals for the first group of retired cars are due Dec. 6. As more cars are retired new proposals will be accepted.
