The Vancouver Police Department is looking for witnesses who saw a car strike a pedestrian this weekend in Vancouver's West End.

Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, a 70-year-old man was crossing West Georgia Street at Cardero, according to police.

As he crossed at the crosswalk, he was hit by a dark blue Mini Cooper heading east on West Georgia. The man was injured in the collision and taken to hospital; police say he's recovering there.

"The driver stayed at the scene," Const. Tania Visintin tells V.I.A. "We are looking for witnesses and anyone with dash cam [footage]."

The VPD is asking anyone who saw the collision to call investigators at 1-604-717-3012.

“Investigators from VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit have located CCTV video that shows several pedestrians and vehicles in the area at the time of the collision,” says Visintin in a press release.
