Photos: Vancouver float home hits the market for $1.85 million

This home isn't so much on Granville Island as floating gently near it.

Granville Island's Sea Village neighbourhood has an opening for a new resident.

If a neighbourhood on Granville Island sounds wrong, that's because it is. It's next to Granville Island, floating on the little peninsula's southeastern side.

While the houses in this area aren't big, they offer privacy and waterfront views impossible anywhere else in the city. The homes don't come up for sale too often, but one has just hit the market for $1.85 million.

Built in 2018, it offers two stories of space inside, along with a dock-level deck, a balcony and a rooftop deck complete with green space and a hot tub looking out over the small community.

As a 1,260-square-foot float home, it doesn't have as many bells and whistles as a single-family home on dry land, but it has all the basics including two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, laundry and a living room.

It also offers a quick walk to the Granville Island Public Market and the food and shopping options there.

Also, it should be noted, that $1.85 million is just for the floating home, as there's no property ownership for those types of residences.
