Air Canada, WestJet, and Porter Airlines have sales on flights for travellers headed to several top destinations from Vancouver.
None of the airlines are offering a "worldwide" sale but are focusing on cities and regions. Luckily, many of the options apply to travel much later this year, meaning you can take advantage of early savings even if you don't plan to travel now.
Have a look at deals that travellers from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) can enjoy.
WestJet
WestJet is offering discounts on flights from Canada to top European and sun destinations for travel between May 1 and Oct. 26.
Travellers from YVR can enjoy trips to several European cities, although some may require a stopover. They can also enjoy savings for flights to popular Mexican cities like Los Cabos, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta.
- Between Canada and Barcelona, Rome, Dublin, Edinburgh, Reykjavík
- Between Toronto and Cancun, Liberia, Punta Cana, Montego Bay
- Between Calgary and Los Cabos, Mexico City, Cancun, Liberia, Puerto Vallarta
- Between Vancouver and Los Cabos, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta
- Between Edmonton and Cancun
Tickets must be booked by April 13 at 10:59 p.m. to take advantage of the offer. The sale applies to all fare classes, and there are no blackout dates.
Air Canada
Air Canada isn't offering a discount on standalone flights, but travellers looking for a one-stop-shop option can enjoy savings on packages including flights, hotel, and much more as part of its "Grand Europe Sale."
Until April 27, travellers can enjoy up to $300 off packages from Canada to Europe for travel through Dec. 31 from Air Canada Vacations. The packages generally include flights, transfers, hotels, trains, admission to various attractions, hop-on hop-off buses, trains, and breakfasts.
Typically, they depart from Toronto Lester B. Pearson Airport (YYZ), but to get to many European cities from Vancouver, travellers must make a stopover (often through YYZ). You can easily pair a cheap flight from Toronto via Air Canada or a low-cost airline such as Flair Airlines before and after the trip.
Some popular packages include the "Treasures of Italy" that stops in Rome, Florence, and Venice, including nine nights/11 days and the previously mentioned inclusions for $3,239 per person or $6,478 for two. This price includes all taxes without the discount.
There are numerous packages to choose from, including Greece, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, England, and others.
Alternatively, travellers can get 50-per-cent off the second guest in all-inclusive packages to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and more for travel until Oct. 31.

Travellers can toggle the sale page metrics to their departure city, preferred date, destination, and the length of stay (only stays of at least seven nights get the discount). The system will generate options from there.
Tickets must be booked by 9 p.m. on April 27.
Air Canada's packages always include a carry-on bag and a checked bag as part of its "Vacation Promise."
Porter Airlines
Porter Airlines is offering discounts on flights to or from Atlantic Canada, meaning Metro Vancouverites can save on trips headed to the other side of the country (and those tickets are notoriously pricey). Destinations included in the sale are Halifax, St. John's, Fredericton, Moncton, Deer Lake, and Charlottetown.
Travellers can save up to 20 per cent off base fares for trips booked by 8:59 p.m. on April 13 using the promotional code SY2L2C.
The discounts vary between five per cent and 20 per cent based on the fare class and the days of the week.
