From Cancun to Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos to Guadalajara, there are several options for low-cost travel from the Lower Mainland.
Here are the cheapest options from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
Cancun
Travellers feeling the pull of Cancun's sun-soaked shores can find some of the lowest prices from Vancouver to Mexico.
For example, a flight departing Vancouver on April 2 and returning from Cancun on April 9 with direct flights from Flair Airlines costs $325.
This price is considered "low" for economy or $97 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights.
Puerto Vallarta
Metro Vancouver travellers looking for low-cost trips to Mexico can always count on Puerto Vallarta. The resort town offers some of the lowest fares from the Lower Mainland virtually any time of the year.
Round-trip direct flights with Flair Airlines start for under $330 this spring. For instance, a flight departing Vancouver on April 11 and returning from Puerto Vallarta on April 18 costs $327.
This price is considered "typical" for economy, according to Google Flights. This means it is possible to get lower prices on the route based on seasonal changes. You can set a Google price alert for your dates to get notified when the price drops.
San Jose del Cabo
Los Cabos might be considered an upcoming playground for celebrities and wealthy travellers but flights don't cost a fortune.
A Flair Airlines flight departing Vancouver on April 2 and returning from San Jose del Cabo on April 5 costs $316; both of the flights are direct.
This price is also considered "typical" for economy, according to Google Flights, meaning you can expect to pay similar prices year-round.
Guadalajara
Canada's ultra-low-cost carrier commenced its route from YVR to Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) in May 2024, offering a cheaper alternative for travellers.
Direct flights with Flair Airlines from Vancouver to Guadalajara typically cost between $380 and $610. However, select dates offer cheaper options on the popular route. For instance, a flight departing Vancouver on April 4 and returning from Guadalajara on April 29 costs $286.
This price is considered "low" for economy or $166 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights.
Bonus: Mexico City for under $500 round-trip
A flight departing Vancouver on April 11 and returning from Mexico City on April 18 costs $473. The low-cost option includes a stopover in Puerto Vallarta in either direction. The outbound ticket includes flights with Flair Airlines and Volarias with a stopover for two hours and 15 minutess. The return trip includes flights with Viva and Flair Airlines with a stopover for just over two hours.
This price is considered "low" for economy or $334 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights.
Travellers who prefer nonstop flights can fly on the same dates with Aeromexico for just under $600 return.
