The cheapest flights from Vancouver to Europe this winter have been to Paris, however, a new city across the pond now offers the best deals for travellers.
Prices on flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Dublin Airport (DUB) in Ireland will drop significantly in February, with a few travel date combinations offering round-trip, direct base fare options for under $800.
According to Google Flights, the least expensive flights for similar trips to Dublin typically cost between $1,350 and $2,250.
Several date combinations starting on Feb. 7 and continuing through March 1 cost under $800. Prices drop again near the end of March and stay low through May 12.
However, travellers must have flexibility with their travel dates to score a low-cost ticket. Some dates cost half of what they do to fly out on the previous day or the one after.
Low-cost, round-trip direct flights from Vancouver to Dublin
A flight departing Vancouver on Monday, April 14 and returning from Dublin on Monday, April 28 costs $731 when booked through a third-party supplier. When booked directly through WestJet, the ticket costs $757 (see slide two).
According to Google Flights, this price is considered "low" for economy or $880 cheaper than usual (see slide three).
Travellers hoping to score low-cost one-way tickets to Dublin will notice a slightly elevated cost on the outbound departure, with the cheapest tickets starting at over $400.
WestJet guests travelling in UltraBasic in Canada and the U.S. may not bring a carry-on item. However, tickets for overseas trips include one, even in the lowest fare class.
