Canada's second-largest carrier is offering a big sale on flights between Vancouver and several popular sun destinations and key cities across the country and the U.S.
WestJet has launched another round of sales following one it held to kick off the new year. Previously, Air Canada and Flair Airlines joined the green-and-blue carrier, offering large sales for flights worldwide.
This time WestJet is alone and is offering two separate promotions for travellers looking for sun-soaked shores or more practical trips (or fun ones that simply don't involve the beach).
Sunny Savings
WestJet's "Sunny Savings" promotion applies to flights headed to 45 destinations for travel between Jan. 15 and Oct. 25. The tickets must be wholly WestJet-operated (meaning another airline cannot appear on the ticket as a codeshare) and booked in the UltraBasic, Econo, and Premium classes.
The sale applies to the following travel departure and destination combinations:
- Between Canada and Mexico (Cancun, Cozumel, Huatulco, Loreto, Mazatlan, Merida, Puerto Vallarta, Tulum, Manzanillo, Ixtapa, Cabo)
- Between Canada and the Caribbean (Antigua, Aruba, Bridgetown, Bonaire, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Grenada, Kingston, Montego Bay, Nassau, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, St Maarten, St Lucia, Varadero)
- Between Canada and Central America (Belize, Roatan, Liberia)
- Between Canada and Honolulu, Kona, Kauai, Maui, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Fort Myers, Tampa, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Orange County, Palm Springs, San Juan
- No code-share
Travellers planning flights to California should consider the devastation from the wildfires and how they could affect upcoming trips. Travel to parts of the state may not be safe or desirable for a considerable time.
Tickets must be booked by Sunday, Jan. 19 at 10:59 p.m. to take advantage of the deal.
Explore Canada and U.S. savings
The "Explore Canada [and] U.S. savings" promotion applies to a few flights to the U.S. from Vancouver and several ones across Canada for travel between Jan. 21 and Oct. 25. Travellers can get up to 20 per cent off select Canadian fares and 15 per cent off select U.S. ones. Tickets cannot be codeshare and must be booked in the UltraBasic and Econo classes.
The sale applies to the following travel departure and destination combinations:
- Between Toronto and Halifax, St. John's, Moncton, Deer Lake, Montreal
- Between Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Thunder Bay, Halifax, St. John's, Quebec City, Moncton, Fredericton, Deer Lake and Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon
- Between Canada and Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers
The following percentages are deducted from trips occurring during the following periods:
- 20 per cent off select Canada base fares for travel between Jan. 21 -June 25, and Sept. 3-Oct 25
- 15 per cent off select Canada base fares for travel between July 7-30, and August 6– 26
- 15 per cent off select U.S. base fares for travel between Jan. 21-June 25, and Sept. 3-Oct. 25
- 10 per cent off select U.S. base fares for travel between July 7-30, and Aug. 6-26
The following blackout dates apply to Canadian trips: March 6-9, 14-17, 21-24; April 17-22; May 15-20; June 26-30; July 1-6, 31; Aug. 1-5, 27-31; Sept. 1-2; Oct. 9-14;
The following blackout dates to U.S. trips: Feb. 14-17; March 7-9, 14-16; April 17-22; May 15-20; June 26-30; July 1-6, 31; Aug. 1-5, 27-31; Sept. 1-2; Oct. 9-14.
Tickets must be booked by Thursday, Jan. 16 at 10:59 p.m. to take advantage of the deal.
