"This is a moment Canada is at the top of many people’s list."

Porter Airlines has increased flights as of April 2025 from YVR to Canadian cities amid changes in frequency of visits to the United States.

Flights from Vancouver to Toronto and Montreal will increase significantly this summer, thanks partly to an airline famous for its (mostly) all-inclusive economy experience.

Porter Airlines has released its updated 2025 summer schedule, including its route connecting Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to six flights daily.

The airline has also increased capacity across its network, with the continuation of winter routes into summer and added frequency. Domestic flights now account for 80 per cent of the airline's summer schedule, up from its previously allocated 75 per cent, according to a news release.

"This is a moment Canada is at the top of many people’s list,” said Porter president Kevin Jackson. Porter is "adding routes and increasing flights in regions across the country to meet this demand," he continued.

Travellers will also see increased flight frequency for Porter between Montreal and Vancouver, with 14 flights weekly on the popular route. The service between Hamilton and Vancouver will also double to 14 flights weekly.

Poter is also introducing a new flight from the Toronto Pearson Airport to Moncton, which complements existing flights between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Moncton and Ottawa and Moncton.

“These routes complement existing schedules by creating more non-stop flight options and greater connectivity for travelling beyond hubs in Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and Halifax,” added Jackson.

Porter still sees increased U.S. demand despite current climate

Porter says targeted frequency reductions in select U.S. markets have allowed it to reallocate flights to the Canadian market. However, the airline's U.S. presence is still up 25 per cent over the summer of 2024.

Porter will also launch new routes to mark the summer, including services between Toronto Pearson and New York-LaGuardia (LGA), as well as Montréal and New York-Newark (EWR) this spring.

The airline added the two U.S. routes following successful services to destinations south of the border, including Phoenix and San Diego, and "increasing year-over-year capacity for Las Vegas and San Francisco."

The summer schedule is supported by 10 additional Embraer E195-E2 aircraft compared to 2024, growing the number of jets in the airline's fleet to 44 (of an order up to 100). These operate in conjunction with the airline’s regional fleet of 29 De Havilland Dash 8-400s.

Porter launched its inaugural flights between YVR and YYZ on Feb. 7, 2023.

Passengers enjoy a "no middle seat" configuration on every Porter aircraft, as well as its signature economy service with complimentary wine and beer served in glassware and premium snacks. Routes operated with the new Embraer E195-E2 also have free, fast WiFi available for everyone.
