An Air Canada flight made an emergency landing at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this week.
On Tuesday, Nov. 21, around 8 a.m., the pilots on Air Canada flight AC235 from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to YVR requested an emergency landing at the Vancouver airport due to a "pressurization indication," Air Canada told V.I.A. in a statement.
"As per the airline's standard operating processes, the pilots quickly descended the aircraft to a lower altitude and as a precaution requested priority landing. The aircraft landed normally and taxied to the gate under its own power."
The oxygen masks were not deployed during the flight and no passengers or crew sustained injuries. The aircraft was taken offline for inspection.

YVR confirmed the incident with V.I.A., noting that YVR Fire and Rescue were on hand and the aircraft was taxied to an available gate following the emergency landing. All of the passengers were safely deplaned.
In emergency situations, the airport employs "comprehensive protocols," involving many airport, security, and emergency partners, such as the RCMP and the British Columbia Ambulance Service.
"Each protocol is designed to ensure the safety and security of passengers, employees, and our community through an efficient and coordinated approach. The level of response is tailored to the nature of the issue at hand," YVR said.
Each airline enacts its own specific safety measures and guidelines in emergency situations. Further, the decision to make an emergency landing may be determined by each aircraft pilot based on various factors.
