Hot deal: You can fly from Vancouver to Los Angeles and Paris for 50% off

See two world-class destinations for half the price you would pay just to see one.

Travellers can visit two of the world's top travel destinations for roughly half price during the summer.

Locals looking to have an Emily in Paris moment can also find round-trip flights from Vancouver for under $800 starting in September. But flights departing during the summer cost significantly more.

The cheapest nonstop, return options start over $1,100 with Air France from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) (see slide four).

Metro Vancouverites can find options for just over $1,000 with only one stop during the summer but they are typically longer. Trips with shorter stops start at just over $1,100.

From the Hollywood Hills to the Eiffel Tower

Travellers can see the palm tree-lined streets of sunny Los Angeles before soaking in the iconic City of Light for less than half the price of a trip from Vancouver to Paris.

Round-trip flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) cost under $200 on multiple dates throughout the summer with Flair Airlines, making it one of the most affordable routes out of the Lower Mainland heading south of the border.

Flights from Los Angeles to Paris are also extremely affordable thanks to Norse Atlantic Airways. The Norwegian carrier offers the route for just over $400 return on multiple dates.

For example, a flight departing LAX on Aug. 1 and returning from CDG on Aug.15 costs $421; both flights are direct (see slide three).

According to Google Flights, this price is $550 cheaper than usual and will likely increase in price by mid-June.

Flights from Vancouver to Los Angeles

Flair Airlines has a round-trip option that departs Vancouver on July 31 (the day before the Norse flight from L.A. to Paris) and returns to Vancouver from L.A. on Aug. 20 (several days after the trip returns to L.A.).

The Flair flight costs $171 and both flights are direct (see slide two).

The total cost of the flight package is $592 or roughly half the price of the cheapest options from Vancouver to Paris during peak travel time.

The only comparatively-priced flight options depart in October. For instance, a flight from Vancouver departing on Oct. 6 and returning from Paris on Oct. 13 costs $630; the itinerary has stops in Keflavík International Airport (KEF) in Iceland in either direction (see slide five).

Scores of locals plan to visit Paris in July for the 2024 Summer Olympics. However, the Canadian government is warning travellers visiting France this summer of an increased risk of terrorism
