Flights from Vancouver to Tokyo with Zipair are less than half the price of the cheapest options from other carriers.
Zipair, which is owned by Japan Airlines (JAL), launched from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on March 13, providing the cheapest non-stop flight between the region and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT).
Zipair added more flights to the popular route following high interest from its new Vancouver market. It will offer the service five times weekly starting July 23 and continuing through Oct. 26.
How to save on Zipair flights from Vancouver to Japan
Flights to Japan from the Lower Mainland can cost under $1,000 for return, direct options even without a seat sale. Before Zipair, it was not possible to buy these fights for $1,000 unless they were on sale.
For example, a flight that departs Vancouver on Tuesday, Sept. 10, and returns on Tuesday, Sept. 17, costs $930 (see slide two).
Tickets must be booked separately with Zipair to score the lowest price, with tickets booked together costing slightly more at $953 (see slide three).
According to Google Flights, this price is about $1,452 cheaper than usual, with similar trips costing between $2,000 and $3,600.
Several date combinations from Sept. 10 through Oct. 16 offer the same low-cost price. Tickets booked before September cost significantly more, ranging between $1,450 and $1,620 for the cheapest options (see slide four).
