Police have moved in to remove several protestors hanging from the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge.
The Greenpeace demonstrators climbed the catwalk girders under the bridge early Tuesday morning and rappelled to hang from ropes suspended under the bridge. The protest was setup to stop an oil tanker from leaving the Westridge oil terminal in Burnaby and travelling through Burrard Inlet.

Mike Hudema, a Greenpeace campaigner and one of the protestors hanging from the bridge, told the North Shore News Tuesday that if a tanker tried to come under the bridge while the protestors are suspended there, it would not have enough clearance.

Whatever happens the resistance to this destructive project will just continue to grow.
