Surrey RCMP is looking to the public for help after a school and a church were tagged with hateful graffiti.
Mounties were alerted yesterday to graffiti spray-painted on the side of the gym and in the courtyard at Semiahmoo Secondary School on the 1700-block of 148 Street, according to a press release. Shortly thereafter they received another report of graffiti, this time at a church on the 14800-block of 24 Avenue.
They are now looking for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the two locations; they believe the acts of vandalism took place on the evening of Jan. 23 and are likely connected to each other.
"The content of the graffiti message at the church is particularly concerning,” says Superintendent Manly Burleigh, Surrey RCMP Operations Officer. “As part of the investigation, officers will seek to identify whether this mischief was motivated by hate.”
In a photo from the RCMP the graffiti states "GTFO my doorstep," and "F**k JW." The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses is located at the intersection of 24 Avenue and 148 Street.
