A video on social media shows multiple cars with windows that have been smashed on a street in Gastown.
The video, which was shared to Reddit by user d3kl on Thursday, Nov. 5, shows several cars with their passenger windows smashed in along Cordova Street in Gastown.
The person who shot the video wishes to remain anonymous but is a resident of the Woodwards building. They tell Vancouver Is Awesome that they remembered hearing crashing and smashing in the wee hours of Thursday morning, possibly around 4 a.m. or 5 a.m.
"My spouse took our dogs out this morning around 8:02 a.m. and recorded the video right outside of Woodwards on Cordova," they write. "There were four to five cars smashed.
"My spouse saw VPD leaving a note on the Jetta when he walked by."
They add, "It’s not abnormal to see a car on Cordova smashed but this was excessive. And we’ve had a big uptick in incidents lately."
