A Danish pop-dance group that took the 90s by storm is returning to Vancouver later this year.
And yes, fans are encouraged to embrace the fantastic plastic life.
Aqua is embarking on its second-ever Canadian tour that includes a stop at the Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe St) on Sept. 5.
The super band is coming off recent success, and perhaps nostalgia, as its iconic hit "Barbie Girl" was remixed with Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice for the Barbie film that starred Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
The collaboration was nominated for three awards at the 2024 Grammys.
Aqua's music video for "Barbie Girl" also reached more than one billion views on YouTube in early 2022. The song has nearly 604 million downloads on Spotify and the band has more than 8.5 million monthly listeners.
Now the Europop trio is "ready to take on the world again," according to the tour announcement.
"The band has sold 38 million albums, 7 million singles and belongs to the absolute elite of music. In recent years, the band has been touring around the world, playing more than 60 shows across 4 continents in the past year alone."
Aqua's most recent show in Vancouver was during the PNE in 2023. The band's first-ever Canadian tour brought them to Abbotsford in 2018.
Other hit songs have included "Doctor Jones," "Lollipop," "Turn Back Time" and "My Oh My."
Tickets for Aqua's Vancouver show in September go on sale Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m.
