The BC Place patio will be set up in Terry Fox Plaza out side the downtown Vancouver stadium.

Vancouver's going to have a new (though temporary) title holder for "largest licensed outdoor patio."

BC Place has announced a 1,000 person patio will be set up this summer in Terry Fox Plaza, at the intersection of Robson and Beatty streets. The massive downtown Vancouver space, simply dubbed the Patio at BC Place, will be open for long weekends this summer.

As the venue will be licensed, beer, wine, and other drinks will be available, as well as lots of food options; for the first weekend it'll range from smoked brisket sandwiches to tempura maple gelato to salmon bannock burgers.

"A variety of food and drink stations with menus inspired by Indigenous cuisine, the night market, grill and smokehouse, Canadian desserts, and a build-your-own Caesar Bar will be available at the Patio," reads a press release from BC Place.

The patio will have a bit of a backyard party atmosphere, with live music from local performers, games like giant Jenga and mini putt, and more.

Future foods and events haven't been announced.

It will only be open a few days this summer:

There is no fee to access the patio, and availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers note the best point of entry is by the stadium's gates A and H.
