Parks and Recreation is going from the streets of Pawnee, Indiana, to a Vancouver cabaret stage.

Inspired by the ongoing drama between Vancouver's city hall and parks board and the comedy of the popular NBC sitcom, local drag stars are coming together to put on Parks & Recreation: A Musical Drag Show.

"Parks & Rec promises dazzling drag numbers reimagining Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope, Rashida Jones’ Ann Perkins, and Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson just when Vancouver needs them most," reads a press release. "Naturally, everyone’s favourite fictional band, Mouse Rat, also joins the bill."

The show will take over the Fox Cabaret later this week (March 20).

The cast includes Rose Butch, Acacia Grey, and Dolly Hardon, among others. There'll be a live band as well, playing covers of the show's Mouse Rat (fronted in the show by Chris Pratt's Andy Dwyer).

The show is put on by Sleepy Queers Productions, a local organization created to open up space for performers of different gender expressions.

"This Parks & Rec event serves as the launchpad for Sleepy Queers Productions’ most ambitious year yet, creating a unique hybrid model of programming playing to the community-building strength of both drag, and music," reads the press release.
