The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 100th birthday this Saturday, January 26 with a smorgasbord of musical offerings.
For a full 12 hours, the symphony will offer everything from performances to workshops to trail lessons. In addition, they will offer an 'instrument petting zoo' for people to come up close and personal with one of their beautiful instruments. There will also be an array of mouthwatering food trucks, as well as activities for the whole family to enjoy.
As such, people will be able to interact with a number of talented and passionate musicians while enjoying time with loved ones. Further, the entire event is free.
Performances will include solo artists, world musicians, amazing local emerging talent, and intimate chamber music. Following these performances, the event will culminate with a performance by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Symphony Youth Orchestra. This exciting performance will weave past, present, and future together in honour of the day that the orchestra first played 100 years ago.
