Vancouver chocolate maker and coffee roaster moves to new cafe location

The new spot is steps from their old one

Located on the border of the Downtown Eastside and Gastown, East Van Roasters has shifted over only about 100 metres from 319 Carrall St to 16 W Hastings St.

East Van Roasters has moved, but the new location isn't far from where it was before.

For the last eight years, the corner of East Hastings and Carrall streets was home to the East Van Roasters bakery with pastries and treats along with the chocolates and coffees made down the road at its roasting site.

The social enterprise on the border of Gastown and the Downtown Eastside was founded by the PHS Community Services Society; it specializes in bean-to-bar chocolate and coffee roasted in-house while helping women with barriers to employment find work.

After closing up the shop at 2 E Hastings St (or 408 Carrall St) the business has opened up just down the road at 16 W Hastings St, less than 100 meters away from the old shop, and still a short walk from the roastery.

"Come visit us to see how our delicious chocolates are made and enjoy the warm, welcoming atmosphere we've created just for you," reads a post about the new location.
