Belcarra's 123Festivals is moving its beloved formal afternoon tea service from Camp Howdy to a temporary pop-up in Vancouver until May 25.

A Belcarra company is taking its unique dining experiences from the wilds of Camp Howdy to the urban environs of Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood.

123Festivals, that’s put on romantic tea light dinners and cruises at the remote wilderness camp since 2023, has opened a pop-up organic tea room at 1010 Hamilton.

The tea room offers elegant afternoon high tea service twice a day, Friday to Sunday, until May 25, with four special seatings available on the Mother’s Day weekend, May 10 and 11.

The formal afternoon tea seatings include a selection of organic teas alongside handcrafted sweet and savoury treats like little sandwiches and cakes, all served on elegant linen, china and silverware.

“This nine-week pop-up brings intention and indulgence together,” said a news release, adding the tea room also has an à la carte menu for more casual visits.

123Festivals started holding an annual tea festival at Camp Howdy in 2016 and subsequently opened its 8 Corners organic tea room at the site. For the past several Christmas and Valentine’s seasons, it’s also offered romantic dining experiences in special translucent domes amidst tens of thousands of twinkling lights strung in the surrounding trees and bushes.

The Camp Howdy events are only accessible by special boat charters as its dirt access road isn’t approved for commercial purposes.

The company said its remote tea room is currently undergoing renovations, necessitating the temporary move to the big city.
