Images: Check out the design plans for a new Vancouver park

A skate park, off-leash dog area, and public washrooms are all included.

A new park in Vancouver, currently dubbed Burrard Slopes Park, is moving forward.

The park has been in the works since the 1990s and is in the border area of Kitsilano and Fairview. It will be bound by Fir Street, West 5th Avenue, West 6th Avenue, and Pine Street, with the Arbutus Greenway cutting through the greenspace.

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation released a plan for the park with new concept drawings on April 8.

"The plan outlines a range of proposed elements, including a large central lawn area for passive and active recreational activities, a plaza-style skatepark, an expanded playground with improved accessibility and inclusivity features, new seating and socializing spaces, and an enclosed dog off-leash area," reads a press release from the parks board.

Other features the concept shows include a rain garden, a pollinator garden, and a public washroom. In the concept plan, it's also noted that the park could be used for small events.

The concept was informed by a past survey of local residents about what is needed in the area. Trees, covered space, a wildflower meadow, and a water bottle filling station were identified as top priorities.

The design has not been finalized. Currently the parks board is looking for public feedback on the ideas presented.

The is being asked to provide feedback on the draft concept plan for Burrard Slopes Park between now and April 30.

Additional consultation with the parks board and local First Nations is also planned.
