Photos: Off-grid floating lodge in famed B.C. fishing region selling for less than Vancouver condos

It's located next to a couple of islands open to exploration.

With spring weather here, it's easy to imagine taking a trip into B.C.'s wilderness.

One destination, for someone with an extra $350,000 in their bank account, could be this floating fishing lodge. Located off the grid (and off the mainland), it sits on the very west coast of Canada and was listed for sale at the end of March.

It's located next to Bligh Island in Nootka Sound, off the west coast of Vancouver Island. It's also next to the Bligh Island Marine Provincial Park.

The area is famous for a couple of reasons. Like much of the remote parts of B.C.'s coast, it has excellent fishing (coho and spring salmon, in particular).

It's also a historic area; Indigenous peoples have lived in the area for 4,000 years. Luna the little Orca, a Spanish fort, and Captain James Cook all famously spent time there.

The lodge itself isn't as famous. It's a simple off-the-grid floating house with eight beds, a living room/kitchen space, and a bathroom. Water comes from a nearby creek, and electricity comes from solar panels or a generator.

There's also docking space for several boats.

Given it floats, the lodge doesn't come with land. Instead, there is a leasing agreement that's set up for the next 15 years.
