Vancouverites who are in Los Angeles and want to take a cheap flight home have an option that costs around the same price you'd pay for dinner at a mid-range restaurant.
Flair Airlines offers one-way direct flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) starting for as little as $37 in October.
Google Flights shows three dates, Oct. 13 and 25, and Nov. 3, with the ultra-low price (see slide two). When you purchase the flight, it may show up in American funds as US$27.
Several other dates over the three months cost slightly more at CAD$47/US$34.
These one-way flights are useful for people returning on cruises, who booked a one-way ticket into a different city (such as San Diego, Anaheim, or San Franciso), or who took a train up to California.
Anyone who booked a one-way ticket to L.A. without a return may also find the cheap option useful.
According to Google Flights, this price is considered "low" for the economy class, with flights averaging $63 more for similar trips (see slide three).
Flair Airlines flights are considerably lower than the competition. Prices with WestJet start at $74, with Air Canada at $96, and $170 with United Airlines (see slide two).
Return options from YVR to LAX with Flair start for as little as $136. One-way tickets from YVR to LAX start at $99, making the outbound flight significantly pricier than the return.
