Zipair continues to offer the most affordable flights between Vancouver and Tokyo but the cheapest options are nearly sold-out.
The airline is considered Japan Airlines' "basic" carrier and offers direct service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT).
One-way, direct flights are available on select dates in 2025 for under $500 in January and February. However, travellers looking for an option under $400 aren't completely out of luck.
A flight departing on Monday, Jan. 20 from Vancouver to Tokyo costs $334 when booked through the third-party supplier CheapOair. Tickets booked directly through Zipair cost $361 (see slide two).
According to Google Flights, this price is also considered "low" for the economy class, or $207 cheaper than usual for this time of year (see slide three).
Round-trip Zipair flights from Vancouver to Tokyo, Japan
In the new year, travellers can find numerous found-trip options between Vancouver and Tokyo for under $1,000. However, prices below $700 are few and far between.
A flight departing on Monday, Jan. 20 from Vancouver and returning from Tokyo on Sunday, Feb. 2 costs $639 when booked through CheapOair. Tickets booked directly through Zipair cost $665 when booked individually or $680 when booked together (see slide four).
According to Google Flights, this price is also considered "low" for the economy class, or $850 cheaper than usual for this time of year (see slide three).
Other cheap travel date combinations include the last two weeks of February, including some options under $800. Starting in April through May, the cheapest options cost just over $800.
