Whistler's new Cloudraker Sky Bridge has been open since Canada Day and the Raven’s Eye Cliff Walk is expected to open on the B.C. Day long weekend in August.
The Cloudraker Sky Bridge spans 130 metres from Whistler Peak to West Ridge over Whistler Bowl -- offering birds' eye views of the Coast Mountains and is accessible from the Peak Chair.
Construction on the bridge's foundation began in May, 2017 and crews began work again this year once the snow melted securing the four cables, each tensioned to 80,000 lbs and loading a string of 101 steel modules that make up the bridge.
Project manager Wendy Robinson says the bridge's metal grating allows people to see through to Whistler Bowl below. "It's a thrilling experience but it's safe, you've got the railings beside you. I think its been a super positive experience for people especially if they are afraid of heights they still manage to walk across it."
After crossing the suspension bridge guests will step out onto the Raven's Eye Cliff Walk -- a cantilevered walkway extending 12.5 metres out from West Ridge that is expected to be finished in early August.

Robinson says people will be able to see from Mount Currie to beyond Rainbow Mountain and be treated to views of Black Tusk in Garibaldi Provincial Park on the walk back.
Both attractions will be open year-round with crews clearing snow all winter for skiers and snowboarders. Admission is free with the purchase of a Peak 2 Peak 360 ticket or season pass.
The suspension bridge and cliff walk are the first in a series of six projects on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain that will be completed for the winter 2018 season.
Other projects include a new Blackcomb gondola and Roundhouse Lodge Umbrella Bar deck plus upgrades to chair lifts, which are part of a $66 million investment by Vail Resorts that was announced in December, 2017.
