Vancouver Aquarium closes early 2 days in a row for film production

Locals believe The Last of Us may have filmed inside.

One of Vancouver's busiest attractions closed operations early for two days this week so a film crew could shoot scenes.

The Vancouver Aquarium has a note on its website stating it closed at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 and Thursday "for a special event" with the last entry permitted at 1:30 p.m.

Film crew and production vehicles were spotted in Stanley Park outside of the aquarium in the days leading up to and during the early closures. Signage around the area also read "B&P Prep," which was used during filming of the hit show The Last of Us around Vancouver.

A New Westminster resident captured images of the film crew and their vehicles and shared them on X, formerly Twitter. He wrote that there was "some good action going on in Stanley Park" and a "B&P set up. Doing re-shoots." (See slides three through five.)

Another local shared photos of the film crew and their setup on X, noting that they stayed in the area overnight Wednesday to pick up filming again.

V.I.A. reached out to the Vancouver Aquarium for comment but they only confirmed that a "special event" caused the closure on both days.
